Connect GitHub Copilot to Jira and Confluence in one command

How it works
Install it

pilotkit lets a GitHub Copilot seat read your Jira issues and Confluence pages. One command, pilotkit setup, signs you in to Copilot, checks your Atlassian API token, keeps it in the OS keychain and registers a read-only MCP server with the Copilot CLI and VS Code.

It also starts a small desk on your own machine where you ask questions and see what each answer cost in Copilot AI credits.

What you can ask it

  • Your open Jira issues, by priority.
  • What changed in a project this week, and who changed it.
  • A summary of one issue: the problem, what was tried, what's still open.
  • A Confluence page found by topic, with its steps listed.
  • A draft comment you paste yourself.

All seven tools only read, with your own Atlassian account. There's no comment, transition or page-edit tool, on purpose.

The interesting bit

Copilot reports the cost of every model call in nano AI units, and the desk turns that into credits per answer, per chat and per day. My first real question about my open issues took two model calls and one tool call, and cost 0.12 credits.

I wrote the whole story up here: One command to make GitHub Copilot read your Jira, and see what every answer costs.

Run it

npm install -g pilotkit
pilotkit setup
pilotkit start

It needs Node 22.13 or newer, a Copilot plan and an Atlassian Cloud site. Companies can add their own name, logo and colour with a brand pack: pilotkit setup --brand <folder or URL>.
